Objective To provide a basic knowledge of investment management practices and to prepare the student for employment within the institutional investment community. The intern will develop competencies essential for both financial and qualitative analysis, while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. Learning Objectives Upon completion of internship, the candidate should have a strong foundation of investment knowledge and have developed a clear core area of interest related to finance. Among other duties, the intern will be responsible for the following: - Identifying key industry segments for potential employment
- Identifying specific institutions to pursue employment opportunities
- Arranging several informational interviews and reporting their experiences back to the department
- Developing a rudimentary understanding of portfolio management concepts
- Practical application of financial analytics
- Ability to develop and sustain a professional network
- Experience in making formal presentations
- Gain team leadership skills through the supervision of the junior intern on department projects
Professional Expectations All interns are expected to be courteous and professional. Work is to be completed on time and to the best of one’s ability. It is expected that the intern will develop the necessary interpersonal skills to achieve success in the work place. A premium will be placed on proactively seeking new projects and learning opportunities. Time Line Internship Levels -
